So we arrived in Rotorua on Sunday… we made a couple of pit
stops along the way. First stop was the Hamilton Gardens since it was on the
way.
We then chilled on the beach for a couple hours which was super nice!
In Rotorua, we’re staying at a lakestay in exchange for a few hours of work each day. So far we’ve washed a car, done a lot of weeding, and cutting back ferns….looks amazing now! :)
On Tuesday we went for a walk around one of the lakes and we got to the end (small beach) we hung out for a little bit. Meanwhile, a boat pulled up and a few people were down at the other end of the beach. The man came over and started talking to us, asking where we were from, etc. We had a nice conversation and were about to part ways when we offered to take a picture of their group. He in turn offered us a ride back to our jetty.
You think that would be the end of the story…. But NO! It gets better.
Yesterday we had done some work in the morning, went shopping, and then our host came down and told us the man from the day before was trying to contact us. (okay, yes, initial thought… maybe creepy) But it wasn’t! His wife was working and it was his last day on holiday and he wanted to go out on the boat again. His wife actually suggested that he call us and see if we wanted to go. Of course we said yes… after initially wondering if this was real. HAHA! Anyway, so he came and picked us up, took us out on Lake Tarawera and we went and visited a few hot pools. He drove us back and his wife invited us to stay for dinner... KIWI HOSPITALITY! :)

One of the best things about this trip is getting to interact with the locals. I love hanging out with them and they're all so amazing!
Also went kayaking on the lake and that was nice too!
I know some people back home are concerned about trusting people, but that's another blog post. I'll write about that soon... I promise!
I have to leave in a few minutes for a white water rafting tour and we'll be heading to the south island tomorrow!
Sorry no pictures on this post.... internet is incredibly slow.
